Do we send our first semester of senior year report card to colleges?

Will it matter if I get rejected or accepted? Would the college admissions officers still want to see my first semester senior grade report?
Or do the first semester senior report card play a large role in deciding whether a student will get accepted or rejected?

Yes, those grades are very important and they will be sent as part of your transcript from the guidance office as one part of your college application.

Every college my son applied to (and all the ones my daughter is considering) required a mid-year report or transcript of some sort with fall semester grades, except for early admission programs with deadlines in November/December. My impression has been that yes, those grades are important, and that there’s no room to slack first semester of senior year.

Depends. Large numbers of colleges including vast majority of public universities make admissions decisions based on grades through junior year and neither require nor want your fist semseter senior grades. Higher ranked privates that make regular decisions in March to April usually require them. So check rules of particular colleges you are applying to. Note, if required you are responsible for orderithe official transcript of such grades sent to a college as soon as they come out; in other words, do not assume your high school will automatically send them.

Sneior year is not the time to slack off. for ED/EA, semester interim grades are sent, for RD first semester grades are included (it’s probably weighted heavier than other semesters). If you are waitlisted, then second semester interim grades are important. Finally, your acceptance is contingent on your final transcript. There is a thread in Parents Forum right now where a student maybe rescinded for .04 below required GPA. Worse still, if you didn’t get into your dream school and want to transfer, then your senior year grades may also be counted. Unfortunately for my daughter, for all the reasons I listed above, she had to work hard right up to graduation. It was her best year ever.

drusba - wow I never know that. My son applied to 13 schools from our local state schools to publics in other states to ivys and all required the “mid-year report” which included the transcript from the first semester. Do you really think the “vast majority of public universities make admissions decisions based on grades through junior year and neither require nor want your fist semseter senior grades”. I think that is a stretch. I think some may not but I do not think that it is the “vast majority”.

It’s still required even when you have been already accepted EA/ED by mid December. For public colleges in CA, it’s not required. But watch out for rescind letters during the summer.
