I'm a incoming freshman in the University Division, and I want to apply for standard admission to Kelley after this year. I heard that anything below a B and/or having W's on your transcript basically ruins your chances of getting in.

I'm taking BUS-A100 the first 8 weeks of Fall semester. Suppose I withdrew and got a W, and attempted the class again during the second 8 weeks and got an A. When I applied to Kelley, would they see that I got a W the first time around or would they just see the A from the second time?

I think you’d be okay. The bus honors program took into consideration Ws, as well. I got into the bus honors program despite a W in A100. I got A+ in A100 the second time around, though.

Most places would rather see a W than an F…I have 2 Ws on my college transcripts, one for Organic Chemistry Lecture, and one for Organic Chemistry Lab.

Something not very well known, but that can boost one’s GPA tremendously is the “Academic Forgiveness Policy” (also known as Extended-X) policy. My title above said it only applies to the first 45 units–but I see it now applies to all courses where someone gets a grade (and not a W, R, I, or NC.
