Do you believe in:

Where there's a will, there's a way? (obviously in regards to our common goal of going to great colleges)

“If you try hard enough, there is nothing beyond your grasp”

That’s frankly, a stupid trope.

If you say that if you have top grades and scores you’ll attend *some *great college and have a successful college career, I can concur with that.

If you’re saying that if you will it hard enough, your otherwise unremarkable application will magically float to the top of the pile in the Harvard committee room, then I’ll say you’re disconnected with reality. Delusional comes to mind.

I may have wanted to hit a 95 MPH fastball with all the will in the universe. But that doesn’t take into account of the incontrovertible fact that it never was going to happen. One would hope that Harvard aspirants are better grounded in statistical realities over fantasy.

I get that applying to schools like H, after a lifetime of being the single best scholar in every classroom you’ve set foot in is a potential ego-crushing venture. But please understand what a 6% admit rate means. Who do you think applies? I’ve interviewed over 200 kids just like you. Most of them, seemingly float on air with their accomplishments. But the fact is there are limited seats in every freshman class. Those are the hard facts.
