I have once, and I will again.

Yeah, about 2 milliliters every other day. The local coordinator actually contacted me after I gave about ten drops of my sexy blood that so many people were experiencing miracles and extraordinary recovery rates, that she wanted me to be gracious enough to have my permission for her to leech more off my godly existence.

Unfortunately no. It’s awesome that people do it, but I ALWAYS faint when there are needles around. It never fails.

I mean sure, I see the point, statistics say gays have a higher rate of HIV/AIDS than Straights, so, I understand.

But also, African-Americans have higher rates of HIV/AIDS than White Americans, should they be barred?

It just depends.

Actually, LMU, I’ve heard that research has shown that white straight females are the most likely to contract HIV/AIDS but don’t hold me to that. I haven’t taken health in 2 years.

Is it national blood month or something because my school had its blood drive today. I’m a sucker for coincidences.

last time we had a blood drive in my school, they threw half of the blood donation because it was infected by HIV/AIDS; as told by my health teacher.

^ I highly doubt half of a school’s population would have HIV/AIDS. Rumors always get started about that. HIV/AIDS is a more difficult STD to get, and for a half of an entire school population to have it is crazy.

and also, how much does it hurt?
honest answers, please

Nope, I’m not old enough D:

On a bit more serious note, I’m not old enough either…you have to be 16 minimum or something and some X pounds and “in generally good health”.

Yeah I can’t donate blood either until I’m junior plus I would have to gain a lot of pounds to meet the weight requirement. I think you have to be at least 100 pounds…I’m only 87…lol.

I hope to god you’re a girl.

How tall are you?

87…dear lord.

LMU, regarding the restrictions on gays:
there are very tight restrictions on who can donate blood. those who are more likely to have an STD (gays, Africans, etc) are not allowed to give blood. if you fall into or have had sex with anyone who falls into these categories, you are not eligible. if you’ve been outside of the country within the last 6 months you are typically not allowed to donate.
i have never given blood myself (too young) but i volunteer at my school’s drive every year. this year will be the first time i donate. last year one kid passed out right in front of me after donating blood. he hit his head on the table he was sitting at and had a seizure on the floor. scary stuff.

haha yes I’m a girl, so hopefully that might ease some of your pain

I’m 5’ 3’’ but I attribute my weight mostly to my light-bone structure. :)

so how bad does it hurt?

I’m giving blood tomorrow!
I gave it once last year (my first time), and it wasn’t bad. It doesn’t really hurt or anything.

I would but I don’t weigh enough…I don’t get why you have to weight a certain amount exactly…especially since muscle weight vs fat weight differs in everyone…anyone willing to explain this to me?

I did this past spring and they had a hell of a time with me. I apparently qualified as healthy enough to donate blood, but when they actually tried, they couldn’t get enough out of me. As in, my circulation was so crappy that it didn’t pump enough blood out, as least, not the pint they needed under 20 minutes. So then my blood went for research purposes. It was interesting though, cause they had to use the pressure in the tube to force the blood out of me, as in, by pushing the blood down and creating a vacuum to bring more blood out. Felt funny, to be sure.

I don’t think I’ll be doing it next week as a result. I mean, I did get out of a useless class, but this year I can’t ditch any of my classes without having to make up serious material, so… :/

I donated. I passed out. It sucked. It hurt. End of story.
