I’m still on my permit, but I usually drive over the speed limit. I love speed so it comes naturally. And a lot of times, the limit is way too low!

Perhaps I’m just naive. The interstates are great though because there are rarely police so you can go 80+mph.

If a police tell you drive over speed limit according to his laser gun, anything you can do to verify it? Is there any record for the radar?
If you can not verify it, so the police can say what ever he wants, he can say you are 10,20,30 miles over the speed limit?

My car is on this list lol. (Most tickets) So I try to drive somewhat conservative and end up going 70 on 65 mph freeways and 50 at 45 mphs. I like driving fast. Maybe I should get me a Jaguar…

it depends. by my house, i never go more than 5mph over. other residential i try to keep it under 7ish. country roads i go 5-15 over, depending on how well i know the roads. highway i just keep up with traffic, so usually 10 over. roads out of my state, like desert highways, ill go 30-40 over if there’s nobody there.

and i agree about suggested turning speeds. i tend to add 20 mph to the speed and go at that speed.

Pretty much everyone drives about 10 mph over the speed limit in my area. (Baltimore) Speed limits need to be either significantly reformed or eliminated. You usually have to be going like 20 over to get a ticket meanwhile you can get a ticket for going 15 under. It’s ridiculous. The speed limits are simply to slow. 60 on the beltway. 45 on major roads. Etc. Following the speed limit is actually dangerous.

I generally go 10 over. Unless the road is too windy, in which case I slow as necessary. I’m not the guy you honk at for driving 30 in a 35, but I’m also not the idiot who speeds down the highway at 100. at that speed it’s not worth risking your license/life.

I took drivers ed last summer & the instructor made me do an extra hour of driving because he said i sped too much & he wasn’t going to pass me until I drove the speed limit. Although, one time on the highway he let me do 80 when it was 70 because the old lady behind me with her turn signal on was tailgating me.

part of our drivers ed was “getting a feel for all driving environments” during our drive time sessions, so for the city driving part, my instructor took me downtown (baltimore)…and he told me to use the red lights there (“and in any city for that matter”, since i told him i live right outside DC) as “stop signs”.

…and he was a cop in baltimore city for 17 years.

I usually go 10-15 miles over. Sometimes I’ll reach 20 over and my mom will freak out (I don’t have my license yet.) I usually go the posted speed limit when I’m in a school zone.

All i could think about when i first got my license was offroad, offroad, truck truck truck i want…2 years later def kills the whole driving fast thing. my truck is limited to 97mph, i usually cruise 10mph over the speed limit.

I go anywhere from the speed limit to 15 over the speed limit. I just go whatever pace I feel comfortable at. I can do this because I live in an area where the cops are reasonable and aren’t hiding behind every street corner.

EDIT: Although, now that I said that, watch me get a ticket soon.
