Do you ever feel truly awake?

Today, while standing outside in the cold, I realized that I never feel awake. I'm always somewhat groggy and out of it, even when I've gotten enough sleep the night before.

I can't remember the last time I've felt alert, focused, aware.

I'm sure that this is common among us sleep-deprived teenagers, no?

Word. I always feel so tired and like I'm not fully aware of anything. lol.

Not since sometime last winter (at least)...I'm always tired and overwhelmed these days...

Since senior year began, I've felt low on sleep...no matter how long I sleep......:(

Go run or something. Get some nice invigorating exercise and trust me, you'll be awake.

I don't feel much awake these days, only because I'm sleeping only 8 hours these days (sacrificing the 2~3 hours of extra sleep on weekdays to play games/watch TV/go to friends').

Then it's weekend sleep 12 hours so I'm fine. I miss my 10~11 hour sleep on weekdays...

yea... I feel like I'm dragging myself through the day 'cause I feel so sleepy.

No. I haven't felt completely aware since the end of 9th grade.

I mean, running on 4 hours of sleep is pretty tough for the average person so yes, i can't even remember what it's like to feel awake

No, I haven't since... 5th grade... maybe.
Unless I am on a roller-coaster, clubbing, a rave or an exciting party.

it doesn't change much in college children
i actually thought the same thing this morning while getting on the elevator to my dorm- the last time i felt really awake was after sleeping for twelve hours the first night i get home...
it's our own fault though, so i can't complain- there are so many things to do that you stay up wayyyyy too late every night :)

I have been falling asleep at around 10:30ish at night for the past few nights, but I am extremely tired by the afternoon. I don't quite understand, because when I go to bed at 11:00PM or later, I am never as tired as I am now. It's strange...

Absolutely. I'm an optimist who has found the beauty of waking up at 5 AM and leaving the house at 6 - being able to see the sunrise. A good workout is always excellent, and brisk winter wind filling your lungs is an amazing feeling.

^^^^ Ditto.

I'm usually quite aware of my surroundings and awake or whatever, although this past week I've been a tad under the weather and so have been a tad groggy as a result.

Most of the time I'm full of life and vigor, though. ;D

unfortunately no...even when I sleep for 12+ hours on weekends it doesn't make me feel any less groggy...so i have determined that feel most focused when I get about 4.5 hours but then I crash after 1 am...

I typical feel somewhat asleep unless I go for a walk or something.

Once, after taking a pill (legal supplement, found in any pharmacy). It was the most amazing feeling I've ever had. However, it hasn't been reproduced the effect the few times I've taken it after that day.

Yeah, after I get up at 5:00 a.m. and have a lot of time to blow on anything before school. It's so relaxed. :) But if I get up at 7:00 and rush to school, I'll just yawn throughout the whole day, even though I got more sleep...

I was just pondering this the other week. Quick story: Since we have senior privileges, I was able to sleep in 'til 7AM. Then in band, I don't have a part in one of the songs, and I didn't have any homework or anything to do, so I'm just sitting there and my friend told me that it looked like I was about to [commit an act of violence]. I think that my semi-awake state finally made me realize the boredom that consumes my day. So I think I may prefer the grogginess. Yay for four hours of sleep 5 nights/week.

I feel awake after I run...which I do for an hour everyday of every week
