I've have this obsession with prep for classes which mostly includes googling for past syllabuses and organizing resources to help with the class but now I have found that I love finding professors (and TAs) on facebook. If only to know what they look like but it does help me see them as more human and approachable. I know it is silly and slightly rude but it is endlessly entertaining, like I just discover my philosophy professor is absolutely obsessed with Harry Potter (my other obsession). Has anyone looked up their professors on facebook? (I don't friend them though, that's just awkward/inappropriate)

nope 10char

I’m lazy 10char

Use RateMyProfessor

Definitely not, but I don’t care much about my professors or preparing for classes lol

I only look up professors after I’ve taken their class. I don’t add them though. I’m afraid it’ll ruin their professional image of me lol.

To see how my professors look like, I search them through the school website for that specific department. Usually there is a picture of that faculty member and a little bio about them.

Of course I can’t find all of them, like TAs, but I’ve gotten an idea of how most of my teachers look like before classes start.

I’m not facebook friends with my professors, but I am “friends” with two deans at my school. I thought it might be awkward, but they encouraged it and I’ve gotten questions answered by them through facebook message!

I Facebook-friend specific professors that I develop relationships with through upper-division classes, TAing, interning, etc. I definitely don’t blanket-lookup professors, though.
