<p>It's just that I was reading a college essay guide book, and it talked about one kid's essay that had a topic that is almost exactly like the one I'm thinking of writing about...:(</p>
<p>YES. and i worry that their writing style could be more elegant or charming or humorous than mine thus knocking my essay out of competition. i swear, this whole process makes me feel dang paranoid…</p>

<p>Choose the topic that allows you to write your most personal, detailed, and revealing essay. Your personal take, something that is so you that only you could write it, will make your essay unique, regardless of how many other people may use that topic. Such an essay will help you in the admissions process.</p>
<p>If, on the other hand, your essay could be written by pretty much anybody–if it says a lot of the usual things, stuff that is commonly known or thought–then the essay will not help you in the admissions process, even if no one else in the entire country writes about your particular topic.</p>
<p>Take heart! It’s not the topic, it’s what you do with the topic.</p>
