Do you feel OLD?!

so im finally going to college FULL TIME after being in the military...but i havent finished all of my GE courses... ill probably be going to pepperdine...or maybe USC (still waiting on their response)... but do you guys feel old?! Im 22 years old but I kinda feel funny sitting in class with 18 year olds (no offense)

THANKS!

It should be fine... I mean 4 years ain't that much of a difference. Besides, I know a lot of people who are much older than I because they did their mandatory military service in various countries (Korea, Taiwan comes to mind) and then came here.

i felt very old when i went on campus tours these past few weeks. they were mostly juniors and seniors in HS visiting along with their parents, and i'm only 21. i know it's not that much of a gap, but i felt very different.

Yeah man, you're a regular senior citizen at 22. Maybe you should apply for AARP.

lol ya i feel u. i'm 24 rite now, 25 in a couple months and especially my freshman comp 2 class is filled with 18 yr olds.

some of the night classes have hs students !!!

i think once you hit the 21 mark it's over. i'm gonna be a 21 year old college sophomore next year with a bunch of 18-19 year olds. it's not a big age difference, but it's that whole alcohol situation that really sets you apart.. haha.

I'm gonna be 23 when I go to university and I also feel old. There IS a difference between 18-year-olds and us. The human brain doesn't completely develop until the early 20s. These are people who can't drink and are still counting down the days till they can, who've never lived on their own, who's parents still make decisions for them, who still think any sex is good sex (not that that has anything to do with college, it's just an example),who haven't completely left puberty yet, who've had their driver's license for two years, who haven't lived enough to truly understand the depth of a lot of great literature and art, I could go on forever. I know there are some 18-year-olds who are very mature, so I'm not saying they're ALL like this, but most are. Needless to say, wherever I end up it'll be on a transfer floor in the dorm or off campus with people my age.

I'm in the same boat as you, I got out of the Marines last year and started going to school full time. It was weird at first but I got used to it. Some of the young kids do annoy me though, they still act like their in high school.

I started school this year, at 22, after working since high school. Yeah, there are times I feel old, but I think it's less actual age and more that a lot of freshman at my school are stuck in the high school mindset. But that's not everyone - all of my classes have some older students, or seniors my age, or people who are supporting themselves. So it's not like I stick out.

I will be 22 in August and I have a son who will be 4 in June. At my cc I found myself with older and mature people. When I transfer to the University next year I think I might feel out of place.

30...and heading back...got you all...ha ha.

thanks for all the replies! im a little hesitant about staying in the dorms... but theres no way i can afford malibu! haha

Well I hear the pepperdine dorms are top notch anyway...

I heard a rumor from a girl that went to Pepperdine that I met, but I didn't believe it until I saw some girl on a website talking about it.

Also, boys have to be out of girls’ dorms by 1am and girls have to be out of boys’ dorms by 1am as well. Along with that, no one is allowed to be in a “sexually compromising” position with another person.

Now I remember why I'm not religious.

what school does that kudos? pepperdine?

Yeah, Pepperdine. I suppose they can because they're private and a Christian affiliated university.

I won't feel old until I'm 20. which is pretty soon...

just say ur 18, problem solved

"I won't feel old until I'm 20. which is pretty soon..."his

Because of this I feel old. Thanks alot.

I feel way old. I actually wrote about it in one of my essays. And then, to top it off, I saw an old roommate's wedding announcement in the Times.

And I'm only 23.
