Hello, I am a high school senior and going off to college this fall.
I need to apply for housing but there is a high probability I might get rescinded due to poor grades.
I don’t want to lose $600 though, should I wait until my final transcript gets sent to the college?
no, you dont get it back.
It’s a deposit to hold a spot. You lose the deposit.
If you don’t get rescinded, can you still get housing if your deposit is late?
Depends how tight housing is on that particular campus. In many schools, it’s limited and the longer you delay depositing, the greater the odds of not having a place to live on campus come September…
- No. Generally deposits are nonrefundable so you won't get it back if you get rescinded. You should probably call the housing office at the school and confirm though since every school is different and rescindation is pretty rare.
- If your school garuntees on campus housing for freshman sending a late deposit will result in you not getting your first choice dorm. If not sending a late deposit may result in you not getting a dorm room (then you'd lose the deposit).
I decided to deposit it. Housing isn’t guaranteed after the deadline so yeah. Praying that my Ds and C won’t get me rescinded…
