I’m wondering if you get the AB credit even if you get a 3 or worse on the exam
you ‘get credit’ from your college/university, and each one has its own policy.
The answer totally depends on university policy. Everybody’s different.
Aside form the others answer that each university has a different way of dealing with AP credit, is that your score means you may not want to take credit for calc 1 in a rigorous CS degree or similar because your score doesn’t indicate a great mastery. Less selective schools may well allow you to take credit but caveat emptor. Make sure your college list is appropriate and has schools in that you can afford and would be happy to attend.
Good point. If the major requires calculus, you might want to try one of the college’s old final exams for Calc 1. If the final is a struggle, then you might be better off not accepting the credit and taking the college’s version.
Universities’ policies vary on how the AB subscore of the BC exam is considered (if the BC score is not high enough for subject credit or advanced placement).
As mentioned above, if the AP score allows for advanced placement at the university, and you want to take the more advanced course, you may want to try the old final exam of the course to be skipped to check your knowledge against the university’s expectations.
