Do you go home on weekends?

Im a freshman at a small college and I go home every weekend possible. Where I go to college almost everyone leaves campus and go home because the its pretty boring. Parties arent aloud here as its a Christian college but does all of you guys go home on the weekend or just stay at college. I couldn't imagine staying the week at my college. Id be bored out of my mind lol especially this week since nearly all the plugs in my dorm stopped working so I cant wait tv or play video games.

*do not does

I live 1200 miles away from my school. Going home every weekend would quickly cost me thousands of dollars in airplane costs. Besides, the weekends are when I get to hang out in various capacities.

My school was an hour away from home. Junior year (my first year) I would go home a lot. I had bad luck with roommates and didn’t like being in the dorm much, and home meant hanging out with my brothers and having a kitchen again and getting better sleep and stuff. Going home every weekend (or every other) helped me keep my sanity, especially since my roommate/suitemates were always loud and partying on weekends.

My second year I was in a campus apartment, with roommates I liked, so I would stay on campus a lot more often. It was a better environment and it was easier to focus and get work done. Oh, and being social was good too, when homework let up a little bit. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think whether or not going home is a good idea depends a lot on the situation. How far away it is, how many people stay on campus (if most stay, going home all the time means fewer friends), what your roommates are like, etc.

Btw, you should see if your dorm has maintenance people, they can probably fix those outlets for you.

Yea everyone leaves campus after classes Thursday because we dont have classes on friday and its pretty boring just sitting at a college thats pretty much dead

I went home almost every weekend my freshman year. I also barely tolerated one of my roommates, so that played a large part in it. Now I only go home for long weekends and breaks (currently a junior). Sometimes I don’t go home for the long weekends if they’re too close to a break. Thankfully I get along really well with my roommates now, so I have no issues staying.

I’m going home plenty of weekends for the time being. It’s a bit easier for me to focus at home and this way, I have a good balance of hanging out with my friends during the week and seeing my family on the weekends.

Since you’ve gone home every weekend, how do you know nobody is left on campus during the weekend? I don’t know any college - including small Christian ones - where students don’t party. It may not be a drunken brawl, but you’re human, and humans like to congregate. My husband went to a small college that had a lot of local students and kids who ran home all the time, but the ones that were left on campus would get together and do something fun. Of course, there’s usually somebody who looks around, calls a couple of people and says, “Let’s go get dinner, see a movie, go bowling, watch TV”.

At all our college we have to fill out a check out list on paper before we go home and by the time I sign it usually its already in its 4th page. And then I look outside and there are alot of cars gone and if thats not enough I hear people say all the time “I cant wait to leave and go home after classes”

My home is an hour and a half travelling by car for 35 minutes and the rest by school shuttle (and I’m going to the closest college) I do this 4 days a weekand and am home on the weekends. Did dorm life a decade ago, whole lotta nope.

Most of the time I visit home, even its good for some change u know. weekends I wanna relax without worrying over anything. and home would be the best place to do so…
