People on here learn book smarts, for sure. But I question their street knowledge. <em>sigh</em></p>
<p>I don’t usually remember things I don’t understand, so getting a good grade = understanding what is being tested.</p>
<p>If you get a 5 on an AP test, then you definitely learned something. Unless of course you already knew everything, which is highly unlikely. It’s different for grades though, because some schools or classes are easier than others to ace.</p>
<p>If learning is equal to memorizing 300 pages at one night, doing the test the next day, and forgetting those 300 pages 5 minutes after the test - Yes.</p>
<p>I learn in school, definitely. I learn more from surfing Wikipedia, but still…</p>

<p>but when i learn things, i like to truly LEARN them. i don’t do classwork that is stupid busywork… etc. which is probably the reason why my grades are nothing special. lol. i’m so glad i started taking college classes junior year. high school made me want to pull my hair out. even though i’ve made some mistakes, i don’t regret it.</p>

<p>The net academic worth of the education I’ve received on my own is so much higher than the academic worth of what education I’ve received through school coursework. I’m largely autodidactic.</p>

But sometimes it gets mixed up with other subjects, for example: during sociology test I kept remembering Economics.</p>

<p>No, memorizing =/= learning. And I’m not talking strictly academics either. I’m just curious how many of you here learn about yourself during high school, and aren’t just focused on getting a good grade on the next test. I would define learning as gaining knowledge that you will actually remember and apply… after the tests are over. You can make an F and still learn more than someone who made an A, depending on what exactly was learned.</p>
<p>I learn, but studying for APs etc. is not the time when most of that happens.</p>
<p>Well, that applies to Sociology, without getting the F score. I feel I learn something, which is why I’m very keen in pursuing Humanities subjects.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t use AP exam scores simply because some schools’ classes don’t teach all that is necessary for doing well (4 or 5) on the exams.</p>
