I'm a Sophomore in high school and I do not have any serious Extracurriculars. I'm on the varsity and tennis team, and write for the school newspaper. Do you have any suggestions? Particularly a medium for volunteer work.

watch animeeeee it’s actually awesome

but varsity sports and school newspaper both seem pretty “serious” - what do you mean exactly?

Idk. im just looking for something to pad my resume. I want to go to cornell.

Read the book “How to be a High School Superstar” by Cal Newport. It will help you think about how to improve your ECs while also doing things that you are interested in. Ivies can spot a resume padder – try to be the genuine person who had interesting and unique ECs. Go get the book and give it a read.

Thanks. A great reply.

Get involved in stuff at your school. A lot of people start a club or do a lot of volunteer work. Make sure you have a solid application in all areas. If you want into Cornell, especially focus on rigorous classes and testing scores and GPA. Do not think you will get in just because of extracurriculars. The only thing you probably know is PSAT, so what it that for last year?
