Do you guys of any research opportunities in the fall I could apply to?

I asked a couple of professors if i could work in their labs. They said they'd get back to me. But i don't want to count my chickens before they hatch. So i wanna know if there are any research stuff available in the fall? or spring?
I live in NJ if that helps

Depends. What are your qualifications?

I don’t want to make this into a chance thread. But 3.91 academic GPA (without electives. But 3.9 with electives. Sal of my class) w/5 APs in class + self-study. Got 5s in psych calc bio and stats, and 4 in physics. Toughest courseload possible, 32 ACT (will retake in sept), 800 SAT MATH II (will take bio and chem in nov), did a research project before and got published three times on international database, prez/founder of debate and will start a fundraiser to go on competitions for the first time in over two decades, and quiz bowl captain. There’s more but that’s the gist of it.

Great i just made it into a chance thread lol

Note that i am taking college courses and i asked the professors in those courses for lab positions.

bump

drunkofdreams?

Nothing? AM i a failure in life? WHAA!!! criess so hard, screaming out “MOMMMYYY”

Emailing professors is your best bet, honestly. You can also ask one of your high school science teachers to help you conduct independent research to enter in a competition like Intel or Siemens.

ok thanks. There’s a science research (my mistake) class that helps you prepare for science fairs etc in my school but i didn’t take it because i wanted to take the TOUGHEST COURSELOAD. So i guess that mightve been poor judgement on my part

You can partake in research outside of that class as well.

You mean that i could do my own project with the help of the teacher of that class after school, and still NOT BE OFFICIALLY IN THE CLASS?

Well maybe you should FIND OUT THE SPECIFIC POLICY AT YOUR SCHOOL.

Good luck finding /any/ kind of research opportunity with your attitude :)

^i was getting impatient. Jeez. Im sure my attitude will not interfere. Or at least i won’t allow it :)

Um, yes? Email your motha****in teacher.

Email the teacher! Or you can reach out to local universities (like, gee, Rutgers?) and volunteer there. I’m assuming you just want to stand out with research under your belt?
+1 to what glassesarechic said too. You can do things outside of the classroom. It still counts.
