My friend hangs out with dumb people to make herself feel better, supposedly. Lol.
The bad thing about hanging out with intelligent people is that there is a ton of competition and they would make you feel bad by bragging about their SAT or test scores just to make you feel bad, so I guess I kind of agree with my friend.

…what kind of schools do you guys attend? wtef?

more intelligent or less intelligent doesn’t matter…I prefer at least equal intelligence to me…

then again if someone scores higher than me or is smarter than me I don’t care. I don’t base my evaluation of myself off what other people say.

and anyone that “brags” about their scores is a certified loser

Doesn’t matter to me.

What is it with these threads? Here’s the criterion all my friends must meet:

1) Must be interesting to talk to.

Cool. I hang out with whoever, really. Some people are more intelligent, some less, and some of equal intelligence.

@JimBoSteve

Just want to know everyone’s opinion since I’m bored, I guess. :P

It doesn’t matter how smart somebody is as long as you get along. Plus, intelligence is so subjective.

Define intelligence…

I guess one who has more ambition than others.

It’s quite easy to tell. There is a certain population that only cares about video games and make-up, evident from their grades and their attitudes in school.

jesskidding i can see you’re going to have a fun, fulfilling life

Well, most of my acquaintances seem to be concentrated at either extreme. They are either really dumb or really smart and nearly none of them are a quiet, introspective, enigmatic, brooding fellow like myself.

As you all are probably well aware, being a reserved academic is a stressful, 24-hour job and it’s not often that you are given chances to become one with your inner libertine in this line of work. For this reason, it has come to pass that one of my best friends–if you can call him that–is my complete opposite. He’s a rip-roarin’, class-failing pothead who’s obnoxious in the “if-this-guy-was-bullying-me-like-he-bullies-that-other-kid-I’d-be-forced-to-leave-the-school” kinda way. He’s pretty much a complete mookah to anyone but the people he’s chosen to like (me being one of them because I’ve known him for my entire life) and is probably destined for a military career…but not by choice…

Yet, as the quiet guy, I almost have a quiet respect for him. Like the Honey Badger, it seems as though he just “don’t give a $#!+” and sometimes I wish I could be more like that. I’m sure anyone who knows both of us looks at our “friendship” with raised eyebrows, and many of my fellow “nerds” might feel betrayed when they see him tearing up some kid while I’m laughing in the background…

…but what can I say, it’s better to have him on my side than it is to have him working against me. And, at the end of the day, he’s a fun person to hang out with because he does some pretty crazy stuff… lol

Geeks and Stoners, man. It’s the ultimate alliance.

I am just drawn to become friends with people who have similar interests and level of intelligence as me. It is just easier to get along because we support and understand each other.

Wiscongene you shoulda been wearing knee pads for that post with how bad you’re on dudes junk.

I didn’t really think at all about intelligence back then, but before highschool my friends were probably less intelligent than me. But they were really nice kids, and we had happy, fulfilling friendships. During Hs my friends were more probably more intelligent than me. We had okay friendships.

I don’t compare myself to others…

I hang out with fun people. Intelligence should not be a criteria for selecting friends

I hang with people because I can get along with them. I agree with microphakia976, I don’t really compare myself with others.

These threads really get on my nerves. Popular kids are annoying because they are all competing against each other for popularity. Likewise, nerds are just as annoying because they always compete against each other for grades, or “intelligence.”

I don’t think “intelligence”(no matter how you define that) should be a criterion in deciding who you hang out with. There are so many more things that could be wrong with a person that are worse that “low intelligence”.

Yes I do hang out with people less smarter than me but that not why I pick them. By my exp. friends are random people you meet throughout your life that actually give your life meanings.

I dont hang out with people as “smart” as me (i assume its based on gpa, courses taken at school, sat, their viewpoint of the world, knowledge of current events, etc) but thats only because imo, those kids in my school are wayy less judgemental and more open to all different types of people which makes it that much easier for us to get along and have some common ground.

I could hang out with people as smart as me, but most tend to have very strong personalities (which is not a bad thing at all but it tends to make those people seem really cocky and think that they are better than most people because they’re eloquent and carry themselves with high esteem and act differently than their peers. Plus they must always be right and ALWAYS win in almost everything which annoys me greatly)
