Do you have a better chance of being admitted If you apply early decision?

I know Syracuse is my number one choice and that's where I want to be.If I have a better chance of being admitted early decision then I'll have to do it.

you do, indeed, have a higher chance at acceptance if you apply early decision. you likely won’t receive as much financial aid, though…

^^would like to see some solid evidence of that; not sure it holds true for Syracuse…

Possibly would affect merit $$ but i’m unsure about FA.

But, yes, you would have a better chance of being accepted ED

How come when you apply early decision you get less financial aid. I never understood that.

oops. by financial aid, meant the combo of merit + financial aid. sorry, i should have been more specific. in any case, if you don’t think you’ll get in on regular decision, ED is a great choice. if, for whatever reason, the school doesn’t offer you sufficient aid, you can still decline attendance according to the commonapp’s ED contract.

But if I apply early decision there can I only apply early decision to SU only.

Yes- you can only apply to SU for ED. But you apply to a specific school, and name your second choice. If you get into your second choice, you are not committed to SU.
