I was talking to some friends at school and was surprised to find out how many of them are tutored in a subject! This may be because I live in a fairly affluent area, so I was just curious to see if the CC community was tutored. I'll start off by saying that I do not have a tutor- I usually Google stuff or go on KhanAcademy to figure things out.

Nope.

I know people who have tutors/private SAT tutors. Also living in a rather affluent area.

no. I also live in an affluent area.

Nah.

I live in an affluent area as well.

I am a tutor, but I haven’t had one.

Yep, I had a few friends tutor me in Algebra 2 and Chemistry this year.

No, and I live in Englewood, Chicago. You judge yourself if I live in an “affluent” area, lol.

I’ve never had a tutor. I tutor other people, though.

No. I tutor people in Latin and Chess, though.

No, smart people don’t need tutors.

^Who do you think taught Einstein? Yes, correct, my grandfather. Now what?

Difference between tutors and teachers. I think of tutors as someone you need for extra practice because you couldn’t get it in class.

I think that’s a really personalized definition of a tutor. They both are someone who help and teach you.

Nope. YouTube is my tutor… KhanAcademy is my hero. :D

I wish, they are too expensive (youtube + google = my tutor).

I met with a tutor once for a summer class I took last year because I missed an entire week and I needed to get caught up. And one of my friends “tutored” me the weekend before an AP exam, basically we hung out and did problems together.

I don’t have a tutor. I really can’t see a reason why somebody should have one. Just study if you don’t get it!

I dont have a tutor either. It seems as if rich students are using tutors noe to compensate for laziness. Tutors are for kids who have an extremely difficult time, not for kids who have A’s and arent motivated enough to study themselves.

Khan Academy and youtube is the way to go if you dont understand a topic.

Not at the moment, but getting one next year for additional maths, which my school have refused to support me in, so I’d be doing it in my own.

Nope. My tutor is Sal Khan. (I probably would have gotten a B in Calc I without Khan Academy.)
