a lot of people think the theatre teacher is gay, but i just think he's metrosexual. there's a biology teacher here who's a lesbian.

I used to have a substitute teacher that was gay. He wore purple leather pants and a tight pink shirt. Yes, it was quite a sight. He used to teach French. My best friend had him in class and it went something like this.

"Hello class. I know what you guys are thinking...Yes, I am gay."

Whole class --- HAHAHAHAHAH.

Well, that is how it happened. Kind of crazy.

I just remembered...Back in middle school, I had a lesbian science teacher, but she's now a PE teacher. I hear the school makes her stand outside while the girls are changing.

The teacher either says their gay, has one of those rainbow or triangle things or just acts gay.

I mean, if you don't have a gaydar then you don't have a gaydar. I guess you can develop one by being around gay people alot, but its kind of like... an inborn tool.

I thought I did have a gaydar, but then there are people like Karomo from the Real World Philadelphia.

What's really wrong (if there is anything wrong at all) with gay teachers? makes it worth a discussion?

Anyway, I had two gay teachers so far. I had them both for English-7th and 8th grade and I can't describe how much I have learned from their classes. Unhesitantly said, they are two of the best English teachers whom I have ever come across and who truly understand my weakness esand most important of all, encourage me to further sharpening my strength in the area of english and writing.

There's nothing wrong with them (well that is debatable)

It is just that they aren't as prevalent as heterosexual teachers, so they are a little bit of a change from the norm if you will.

Human beings respond to change and the constant is usually not commented about unless it changes.

So, CCers would probably not comment about heterosexual teachers because most teachers are heterosexual (somewhat of a constant). But, if there are homosexual teachers, a change in the norm, then we will respond to this change.

Hmm... When I first read this title I thought, 'No, I don't' and then I was like... well theres my french teacher, my 10th grade math teacher, another math teacher, my lacrosse coach, and several more people. No one really talks or thinks about it at all, except for every now and then when their significant other comes up in conversation or something. Keep in mind, however, I live in Manhattan and go to a progressive private...

Nothing wrong with being gay. Its just that you don't see many of them. Its like the elusive white heron. :O

I had an openly gay spanish teacher in sophmore year of high school. He was a great teacher and I learned alot in his class. The fact that he was gay had absolutely no impact on the class.

anyone notice the trend...

male + english or language = gay

female + PE or science = lesbian

I've never had one. But there was an 8th grade PE teacher who everyone said was a lesbian. She was very plump for a PE teacher (or anyone, for that matter) and was obsessed with Xena: The Warrior Princess. And there was an effeminate teacher in my high school, but he had a wife, so I doubt he was gay.

Possibly a gay math teacher and english teacher. Both are great teachers though.

Hmmm..two years ago we had a gay Spanish teacher. He was the partner of an ambassador so that was a little weird since the invitations for receptions held by that embassy said "Ambassador _____ and Partner (Spanish male teacher) requests your presence".

But this year...don't think so.

Female gym teachers tend to be gay around 80% of the time...The guy in charge of the drama dept. is married and has children, but it's obvious that he is gay, as is the man who is in charge of the spring musical vocals (he had a husband, and they've had many adopted children who have gone to my school). In the middle school, the theatre arts teacher apparently would always say to his class, "My boy-I mean, my girlfriend..." But what's the point to this topic?

the AP French teacher here is gay as is one of the teachers in the Social Studies department ...
apparently they're married...

...this is all based on hearsay.

lol I can't believe this thread is still going.

it kind of makes sense.
granted there are flaws in this logic but:
straying from the "norm" (male = science/sports, female = language/humanities) --> accepting of new/ non-traditional ideas (and lifestyles) - i.e. poltiically/socially liberal --> more likely to consider an alternative lifestyle than if conservative --> more likely to be gay/lesbian

No. I had a Verbal SAT teacher. He was an awesome (and straight) man.

And I've never had a coach who wasn't married.

I guess that trend does make sense, but it doesn't happen where I live. Infact, my gay teacher is the COMPUTER SCIENCE teacher! (... okay so he also does color gaurd, but just forget about that for a second :P)

My band teacher is a lesbian...she openly talks about it. "My partner has to drop our kid off at school..."
