Eh, most of the people in APs at my school just down right don't trust another person's mediocre brain doing their work; so they don't cheat.

i cheat lol... ill someday stop tho if i get caught which will REALLY suck

ok, finals get stolen at my school, and we're a feeder to berkeley.. (about 15% of our students go to berkeley or UCLA)

i remeber this kid got through chinese 3 without knowing how to write 1-10, and i am dead serious (he even got an A)

once he cheated off me (dunno why i let him, but just read on) but he didnt know i had the "A" test and he had the "B" test and he ended up getting a 15%

"AP Macro has a ton of math"

...Woah. Um, really? I guess it depends on your definition of "a ton of" but... we don't do any math... like really, REALLY basic graphs but that's pretty much all the math.

I'm sorry but people that have to constantly cheat (as in stealing finals/tests, blatantly looking over someone's shoulder) in AP classes are lame. Drop down if you can't handle the work.

I don't personally care if other people cheat as long as it's not off of me (I won't help you) or the grade isn't set on a curve. If you mess with MY grade... then there'll be confrontation.

have you guys done anything to curb the cheating, or do you guys sit back and grit your teeth?

a word to the wise

"cheaters never prosper" lol

honestly, i say let people cheat. they will most def get weeded out sometime in their life. whether it be in college when they don't have the possibilities to cheat they had in highschool(possibly more chances) and they fail out of college. or in the job field when they can't work on their own and their bosses fire them. cheaters NEVER win.

i believe in an invisible hand that will weed them out. But sometimes intervention is needed. Just not at my school.

Is it considered cheating if you get the test questions and answers from another period? To me, that's fair game.

How is that fair game. That's the same as writing stuff down on paper and using it during the test.

Is not. People memorize the tricky questions and the answers and tell you by word of mouth what the question and answer is. When you take the test, you just have to remember what the person told you. Seriously, is that still cheating?

Of course it is. Would you tell your teacher that you got an answer from a test from a friend?

We tell our teachers several times when that happens. They all have the same attitude about it. Its not considered cheating, unless you actually write the answers on your hand or look at someones test. If this is cheating, then I do it about 3 times a week. But it doesnt affect my grade to the point of extreme cheating like kids that cheat their way to the top. It just affects my test score by like an average of 4 points.

Oh that happened in my 8th grade science class lol. So he put a question on there for all of his blocks that he only discussed with his first block and theres no way the other blocks could get it to prove we did that. Sure enough, people put that answer, so he started using a bell curve as a punishment. I hated that guy.

dude, there's this fat girl taking an honors curriculum that cheats all the time. One of her "friends" told me that at a play rehearsal, while her friends were on stage rehearsing, she took their hw out of their backpacks and copied it. How creepy is that.

She cheats blatantly on tests, even finals. To add to the mix she is a HUGE suck-up. I really detest people like that. But it calms me down to think that I killed her on the SAT!!!

everybody cheats..that's a fact...some just do it more, others less. copying a few exercises here and there definitely isn't cheating...c'mon. EVERYBODY does that. what I do consider cheating is preparing cheatsheets for tests...I guess I'm the only one in my class who hasn't done it. that's big cheating, IMO, and would make me feel bad about myself. sparknotes is also big cheating..
I don't understand why you people here seem to have a big problem with the fact that others cheat. I, for example, don't care if people around me cheat or not...cuz mostly they do worse than me...so I guess these cheatsheets don't help them that much. I also don't have a problem with helping others to cheat. if they are in trouble during a test, then of course I'll try to help them. I usually don't have a problem when a friend is copying my answers. I also don't have anything against retelling some kind of a book's plot. it's called cooperation, btw.

I don't have a problem about people cheating. I just have a problem when they outrank me in the end... If there were no cheaters in my school, I'd be in the top 5% out of a class of 380. But instead im in the top 12% because of cheaters!!

We have cheaters in APs.

well what can i say? tough luck man, but really suck it up. There's always going to be people who are better off than u who didn't don't have the merits for it.

In my AP Govt class, we had two people who plagiarized their papers. For that class in particular, I don't think cheating/plagiarizing is very common, but it is more common in some other AP's.
