Do you have to be athletic in order to be accepted into a school like Harvard?

Do you have to participate in school sports? And, are you able to include sports you did out of school?

Any information would be helpful!

Thanks.

No and yes.

wow… thanks for that vague answer, more detailed please?

Your questions are vague, so I gave the most definitive answer based on them. Simply put, there is no required extracurricular one must do in high school in order to be accepted. And in your list of extracurriculars on the application, this is anything you do outside of the classroom (as well as possibly outside of the school)

Well, I am very aware of that, but will it hurt if I don’t do sports, because I am not very athletic and am not interested in playing college sports…

No, it will not hurt if you do not do sports.

Thank you very much.

Our high school had two students accepted this year (a record), neither would be labeled an athlete. My daughter’s “sports” are skiing, deep sea fishing and dance. The accepted boy has no sports of which I am aware.

The one '08 student accepted from our high school was a recruited athlete.

I guess our high school represents Huinsider’s response pretty well.
