If you are in a fraternity or sorority? And I mean just normal Greek ones.

No. If the Greek group a person is in cares about him or her, those people will respect his or her choices.

No. In most schools nowadays (that I know of), hazing is absolutely prohibited. They can’t make you do something you don’t want to do. Besides, if they truly want you as a member of their community, they will not force you.

If you’re in a respectable one, no.

If they try to force you to do something you’re opposed to, then they’re not worth associating with.

It is a choice…I can’t imagine it would be a smart idea to force someone who might be underage to drink.

Are you saying you don’t want to drink at all, but still be associated with the fraternity? If drinking makes you uncomfortable, you probably wouldn’t want to go to fraternity events (i.e.: parties).

However, it’s widely respected if you chose not to drink.

Ya I don’t want to go drink at all, but I still want to go to parties, I’m a social guy and I don’t care about being around drinking.

I guess this leads to another question- Is it alright to go to parties if you are not going to drink?

I wouldn’t see why not…worst case is you drink soda the whole time and they think its a mixed drink.

But getting with drunk girls is kind of sketchy if you’re not drunk…

Going to parties not drinking is fine. Thats what I do.

At my school, it’s uncool not to drink. A friend of mine actually got asked to leave a party because he wasn’t drinking. So a lot of non-drinkers put iced tea or root beer in their cups to make it appear that they’re drinking.

Generally, most are accepting of non-drinkers. If they kick you out…then ask yourself if you want to be around people who can’t accept you for who you are.

+1 to the post about hooking up with drunk girls if you’re sober. Hahahahahaha!

OP; you will most likely end up drinking unless there is a personal reason against doing so. Once you hit college, you’ll probably hit your first party within a week. Again, it’s not an obligatory practice, and most are respected when they chose not to drink.

Absolutely not… and you shouldn’t either alcohol is expensive, unhealthy, and addictive. It is literally a poison. You are poisoning your mind to the point that you can’t drive, walk, or speak clearly. Alcohol doesn’t taste good either and you can overdose.

Have you ever tried marijuana?

why would you go to a party if you didnt want to party. what a party pooper…

Hahaha, if the OP doesn’t want to drink in college, I’m sure they’ve not smoked a joint.

Consuming alcohol is a choice. Just don’t make anyone force you to drink.

Don’t feel as though there is an empty gap between not drinking and getting smashed beyond your ability to walk. Lets remember most health professionals recognise that one or two drinks accept that there is not much wrong with having one or two drinks when your out with mates. Plus it might make you feel a little less inadequate if that is one of your worries.

Mojo91, lots of people are able to party without consuming alcohol. It’s the people who can’t have a good time without drinking or getting drunk that have the problem!
To the OP, I am sure you will find like-minded people at your school, and plenty of parties to attend sober.

Thanks for all the comments good points from everyone. Also I have not smoked weed but I probably would before alcohol. I think alcohol does more harm to yourself and others then weed.

I smoke but don’t drink. Being drunk just doesn’t do anything for me.
