Do you have to pay the $225 to get a housing priority number?????

Help!!!!!!

I completed the application but DD is Florida Prepaid Dorm contract so they said they would bill Florida Prepaid and I didn't have to pay.

I don't see a priority number on the completed application.

The $225 deposit is not covered by Florida Pre-Pay Dorm. You have to pay it to get assigned a priority number.

When I checked Florida Prepaid Dorm Contract, the FSU website said I didn’t have to pay and Florida Prepaid would be billed.

I just paid by credit card. Where can I view the priority number?

You more likely just paid the $200 Tuition Deposit? There’s no way for you to sign up for housing until you are officially accepted, which won’t happen until midnight tonight.

After you sign up for housing, you must pay the deposit within 10 days, and if you’re under 18, your parents have to sign the contract and mail it in (also within 10 days). If you don’t pay and/or don’t send the signed contract, you will lose your priority number.

If you have prepaid, see what happens after you sign up. If it says you owe money, send the check. If you end up paying more than you owe, you will be reimbursed. I don’t believe prepaid covers the deposit right now, but you may end up getting the money back at the start of the semester. That said, if you end up living in a new or renovated hall, you will actually owe money, because prepaid only covers the cost of Smith/Kellum/Dorman/Deviney.

You can sign up for housing right now if you are accepted …I got accepted tonight about 6 pm and immediately signed up for housing via FSU housing portal and got great priority number. You have 10 days to pay for the $225 deposit and send form with parent signature (under 18)

is 201 a bad priority number?

201 is great priority number

No, I paid the $225 housing deposit plus a $7 convenience fee.

Not true. You can sign up now. Must be a glitch in the system because it is letting people sign up for housing now.

I didn’t pay anything, I selected the pay within 10 days choice. It said since my daughter is under 18, the agreement needs to be signed by parent and mailed in. At the top of the agreement it reads, “Agreement Priority Number.” I just did my daughter’s agreement and her number is in the 400’s. (Don’t want to give exact number and possibly ID daughter). I hope this info helps you.

got a number in the low 800s. is that ok?

I got the number in low 20`s…applied housing before checked my status

It’s definitely different this year then. In 2009, they didn’t post the actual decisions until midnight, and you couldn’t sign up for housing until then. (and we didn’t get fireworks either)

201 is a great priority number. You should have no problem getting whatever you want, including Sophomore year if you want Ragans.

Sugartail, low 800’s is pretty good. You will definitely end up in one of the nicer halls, if not your first choice.

Congratulations to all new 'Noles!

I got fireworks last year! People that wait until midnight tonight expecting to get a low housing priority # are going to be hacked off when they find out 2000-3000 people are already signed up in front of them in line! Last year housing said on phone to just make sure to get deposit in by first couple of days in Jan right after Christmas break, so if you are tight for money you’ve probably got a little wiggle room beyond 10 days. I’m not guaranteeing it, just saying. Congrats new 'Noles!

You get a number whether you pay now or not. You have 10 days to pay or indicate prepaid will pay or get the signature page mailed if the student is 17. If you fill out the form you get a number that is held for ten days.

priority number 897. yuck.

Marsie, 897 is a good number. Also keep in mind that some of the students ahead of you are signing up for housing at FSU even though UF is their first choice. Once they know if they are accepted to UF, some of those students will drop out and that means that your effective priority number will be lower.

And not just UF. Some of the students may get into Duke or Emory or Vanderbilt, etc., and eventually enroll in those schools.

Don’t worry Marsie. I was told that any number under 1000 was good. Many with numbers lower than yours will not end up at FSU. Once the UF decisions come out, plenty of people that signed up for housing will pick UF instead. I don’t know why, but they just do. Last year I was admitted to both and chose FSU and I couldn’t be happier!

WELCOME NEW NOLES!

Nolette - for some it is the proximity to home that draws them to UF. FSU is a long way away from south florida. For some, it is that their parents went to UF and they were raised as baby gators and so they choose UF because mama gator or daddy gator raised them to be baby gators. Another issue is the female to male ratio at FSU. It is great if you are a guy looking to date women, but it can be less appealing if you are a young woman looking to date a young man.

Thanks, Atacom and Nolette. I’m glad to know it’s a reasonable number. He isn’t committed to anyplace yet, but it is nice to know that paying the deposit wasn’t in vain.

Wow! Male/female ratio was the last thing on my mind when I decided to go to FSU instead of UF. My high school had fewer boys than girls so I was used to that I guess. I am from South Florida, and those extra two hours did not make a difference to me once I visited FSU. No comparison!

I LOVE FSU, even with the shortage of men!
