My school doesn't offer World History AP, but I want to try and take the test after taking the class over the summer. If I (probably) fail the test, do I still have to submit the scores to colleges?

Your AP score report will have ALL scores for every test you've taken.

However, you have the option of striking a score, but the colleges will know that the score has been stricken.

so should i try it or not? how bad does a stricken score look?

Wait, I thought if you took an AP Exam, but decided not to send it, colleges would never know you took it?

Colleges will not see your AP score report until you enroll. It isn't something you send to colleges necessarily, like SAT scores. However, if you send colleges a score report, they will see all of your scores.

You don't need to list AP scores on your application unless you choose to.
Some high schools report them on transcripts. Check to see what your hs does before you decide what you want to do.

You can also selectively list AP scores on your apps if you choose; some students only list 4s and 5s.

What's the difference between sending a score report and selectively choosing which scores to send? Wouldn't it just be better to selectively choose?

so if i took the world history test and got a 2, then bio, chem, and calculus and got a 4, i could choose to only show my bio, chem, and calculus test scores?

^^

You can selectively list scores on your APPLICATIONS, not on the AP score report, unless you go through some hoops.
