I've only turned in my safe school applications! The essay part is slowing me down for my other schools.

I go to a really low-class school. Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) goes to fairly easy-to-get-into rolling admission schools. Everyone knows where they are going (and most people have never heard of having to wait until April for an answer)! And here I sit... trying to finish my applications.

I've only turned in the application for my safety. Other than that, I'm applying to 11 other schools, and I'm tripped up on the essays for all of them, even the Common App essay. Not only that, but all my peers are just going to the same handful of in-state schools, and are all already getting decisions back.

I feel like a major slacker, and I wish I hadn't waited so long, but nothing left to do but hunker down and try to get through these essays in the couple of weeks we have left.

As a Mom, I sympathize sugarplz and amandacecile. My S is in the same position. Just a suggestion: why don't you write about what it is like to be the one in your class who is reaching beyond the college choices of your peers. If you can do it without putting down your schools or your classmates, it might strike a chord with the admissions crowd. Good luck.

I can completely sympathize. I have 9 different schools to write essays for, and even though I have some free time now, I'm STILL procrastinating a bit. Most of my friends are finished with everything, which is making me feel even more pressure. AND I thought I was all done with my Common App essay, but now that I'm looking back on it... oh, God.

SNM, I think your essay idea is great! And in fact, I'm writing something that includes what you said. One of my essay ideas goes along the lines of my experience living in the very disadvantaged Appalachian area of the US. :P

Thanks everyone for the consolation that I'm not the ONLY one feeling the pressure from the impending deadlines :)

@SNM: I was actually just tossing that idea around :D It's definitely something I feel strongly about, and I could put it down in the "additional statements" part of the Common App, so I may go for it. Assuming I have time outside of all these essays, of course! :P

I'm in the exact same position as you! I'm from Canada and I'm the only one applying to American universities, or even universities in other places in Canada. Most people are just going to the local one. Yeah, and I have 10 to do :/

^ you will be successful when you get out into the world. Just don't forget to drop a few coins into my hat when you see the rest of us on the streets beating ourselves up for procrastinating on college apps

im blown... i still need to write like 2 essays for a university's honors college. I just don't feel like doing them. I've already been accepted into a few schools and feel like I don't need to do this even though i know I should!

I have three or four more applications to do (can't decide), but the acceptances I've gotten so far have made me feel like I don't need to do the rest, even though I definitely do!

I am in the same situation.
I've got 6-7 schools left to apply too, filled out the Common App, and now I just have the supplement essays. Only problem is that most of the colleges want around 2 essays on their supplements :[
I'm going to be spending Christmas writing about why I want to go to college x.
