On the Common Application, what is this question getting at:

"Do you intend to enroll in a degree program your first year?"

Clearly, if you seek to enroll in college, aren't you by definition seeing to enroll in a degree program? What do they mean here?

In completing the Common App via the individual colleges’ “Future Plans” sections, none of them check or don’t check this box – maybe it is unimportant?

I thought this meant whether you wanted to start with a major or go undeclared? Could be wrong though.

Some colleges welcome non-degree seeking students–in other words, students seeking to expand their education through college courses but not necessarily with the intent to work toward a degree. That is the information these colleges are after with this question. It does not relate to college major or being undecided.

So, if you intend to be just a regular college freshman, do you answer “yes” or “no”?

If you are enrolling with the intent to graduate with a bachelor’s degree, then you are a degree-seeking student.
