Maybe that's why you'd like to know but the way Citan started the topic, it looks like he wants to insult them.

That's not a law.

U can have 4.0 but if u haven't done ur english classes or math classes u won't get in.

Whatever.

a law? that basically supports unintelligent people, academic welfare, i dont know if its true but i hope it isnt, a C average is not worthy of a bachelors degree

I've heard that UC must take all qualified students from HS, it was mentined by a PhD Pol Scie instructor, so i trust him. Which is what UCR and UCM are doing. Never heard anything about ccc students.

i'm fairly sure it is and i believe thats the reason why ucr has such a high acceptance rate.

remember, after all, it is a public institution first.

and that is why UCR will never be great.

ucr will never be great because they take people who didnt even apply to their school haha

Their acceptance rate is so high because they don't get enough applicants. Same with UCM. I've actually searched this stuff up and I know that is why their acceptance rate is high.

What do you mean "qualified"? Any students that graduate highschool is qualified to get into a UC.

also because who ever applies pretty much gets in

There's definitely a law like that, but it may apply to CSU's too...

Nevermind what I said. I made a mistake. After more research it is partially correct.

"Currently, the University of California is required to accept the top eighth of high school graduates, or the top 4% of any given high school class. Redirection to a UC with open space (generally Merced, Riverside, or Santa Cruz) still occurs for students who meet the qualifications but are not accepted at any UC applied to."

I haven't found any such laws for transfers. But then again, transfers from CCCs get priority over highschool kiddos anyways.

The fact that the quote above has existed this long without being well-refuted on here is perhaps testament to how little many CCers know about the UC transfer process. *The minimum REQUIRED GPA for transfer students is 2.4!!!! *

NOT AT ALL. In high school, to be UC eligible u must take a certain amount of years of English(4), Math(3),two years of foreign language, and even an art requirement, and other stuff. U almost must have a minumum GPA and SAT.

U have to take SATII. To be UC eligible.

SO graduating does not get u qualified.

I am passionate about this b/c I did well in HS by working hard, just went to ccc b/c of financial reason.

Most people here never even thought about a 2.4 GPA.

Read my last post.

I did read ur post. U wanted me to clarify what being "qualified". Notice thats the same terminology that UC system uses. IN the previous post u stated that, "Any students that graduate highschool is qualified to get into a UC." WHich very incorrect b/c there are much much more to being UC "qualified" than being handed a HS diploma

here is what it is.... if you have a 2.4 gpa and IGETC you are gauranteed a spot at one of the 8 uc campuses.
