"our school is not bad.
we are supposed to have a law school. got delayed because of budget cuts.
we have half a med school, but are working extremely hard to get a full one.
we have an awesome science faculty. guy bertrand - google his ass.
one of our psych prof. was head of some crap at harvard."

We are supposed to....this...we have half that... How in the world are these reinforcing statements which are provided to support your position that UCR is "not a bad school"?? You are making my case for me.

Oh and I googled Guy Betrand's "ASS" and I found his UCR webpage! wow you know you have made it when google refers you to your own webpage.

Your arguments are ridiculous, just because YOU know people who do not share the same sentiment about UCR as the people who I know does not prove that they do not exist. It would take an idiot to believe at any school that the student body reaches a consensus on any issue let alone the prestige of the school itself.

And if one of your professors was "head of some crap at Harvard" why did he leave? Was he looking for a beautiful city to live in...RIVERSIDE? Or was the pay more here in the UC system than it is at HARVARD? Or was it the prestige factor...at cocktail parties he always felt like he didn't fit in because he was a HARVARD professor and everyone else taught at UCR and Cal state San Bernardino. lol please

The bottom line is UCR is a good school but it is no where near being the best school, like I said before, its students should be proud to be at a UC, and heck to even be in college period. There is nothing wrong with being a UCR student, but the moment a UCR student wants to open their mouth and make an attempt to compare their school to UCLA or UCSB (which I still don't get) they are going to draw fire from me because its just not accurate.

I think the final point I want to make is this.. what alumni networking do you have when graduating UCR? If people call USC, Pepperdine and all of the Pomona college's regional, what kind of label would be apropos for UCR. I suppose if you plan on living in the Inland Empire your entire life...LA is going to recruit from UCLA/USC/Pepperdine.etc. San Diego is going to recruit from UCSD/SDSU/USD etc.. Unfortunately, I do believe this to be unfortunate, the job opportunities for a UCR grad IN MY OPINION!! (it is not expert, nor necessarily even accurate!) will be centralized within the Inland Empire and would limit a persons opportunities considerably.
