When people say they failed a test only to get a A-. They think an A- is failling. For example,my friend told me he failed his subject tests.when scores came out,he told me he got 740 on math,720 on us hist, and 690 on chem. C'mon,I got a freakin 520 in math and 560 in us history. Sorry,my rant,LOL.

I only hate it if I got a lower grade than the person complaining otherwise I complain a lot myself.

thank god i’m not the only one, i hate it too. CC is full of it though hehe. a 2300 is considered average here, so that just like breaks my hopeful spirits.

It just might be because I hang out with smartest Asians at the school. So far this year,2 of my Asians friends got 35 act plus 2200 sat,I’m mad,lol

I’m the same way.

My bestfriend commits that crime all of the time.

“I failed!” She gets it back. “I got an A-… Wow… I’m surprised. I thought I failed.”

And the thing is… she always thinks she failed. She’s genuinely surprised.

@AUGirl- I do that, except I know I didn’t fail. I do it on purpose because convincing myself I didn’t do as well as I hoped and then getting back an A makes me feel good; that is, as opposed to being arrogant and always thinking I get A’s on everything, and then getting back a lower grade, which would make feel bad.

I hate when people say “I got a B. That’s good enough. I’m passing.”
Hell. Shoot for an A.

well in the defense of “those people”, its very possible that they really think they did poorly. Happens all the time, you think you didnt do well and u did and vice versa.

Haha, I have a friend like this too! But, I think she just honestly thinks its bad.

maybe some people are just fishing for compliments. which is why when a friend says that to me i just kinda smile and turn away.

That’s unfair. At my school it’s nearly impossible to get an A in most classes. Sure certain assignments might be easier than others, but in general getting a B is good.

What’s wrong with getting a B? That’s above average and in most school that constitutes an 80% or more.

That means out of 100 questions you only missed a maximum of 20.

Shoot. At some schools it’s a 90-94… that’s hardly anything to complain about not being good enough.

I’m one of those people who are like “As long as it’s above an 89.5, I’m good/happy”
I want to put in the least amount of effort possible to achieve the same grade, because an 89.5 gives you the same grade as a 100 at my school. Why work more for the same result? ;D

^^ I agreed x24234034.

In our grading system you only have to get half A’s, half B’s for quarter grades to get an A for the year, which are the only grades which go on our transcripts. I just got my report card, and I got a 3.7 for the year but I had tonns of Bs, a C, and even a D. So why would I ever put in the effort to get 3.7 or whatever every quarter when the end result is the same?

I always feel awful after tests. I actually do feel like I failed, and sometimes I say it.

On the other hand, people who get mad just because they didn’t get a A+ 100% annoy me.

Maybe he’s NOT actually fishing for compliments and just has higher standards. I mean, those scores certainly aren’t exemplary if he wants to go to a Top 10 school or something. :|

All I’m saying is to not judge people when they think they’ve “failed”. Sure, sometimes it’s just someone being a ******bag. But other times they’ve just aspired to something higher than what they got, and that WOULD be a disappointment.

I TOTALLY AGREE with the OP.

When I say I fail… I mean it.

Some people just have high standards and are easily disappointed. It’s no big deal. =)

I agree with the OP regarding people who say they failed and whatnot, but I got a 680 on my bio sat II and I am legitimately p***ed because I got an A in Bio second semester and am pretty sure I got a 5 on the AP. Don’t hate people who want to be the very best, like no one ever was.

Okay, maybe a B is to high of a grade for a good example. Change the B to a D…
I realize every schools grading is different, but at mine it is fairly easy to get a B+ or an A.
