Do you know what school I'm talking about?

about a year ago i got information from a unique school that i wanted to check out but i never got around to it.

from what i remember, it is:
in east coast
focuses on philosophy (i think)
named after a saint (i think)

the school was all about like learning for learning's sake. i remember reading that students do not take tests or something. also, i remember there was a reading list that every student reads by the end of the four years that included alot of classical authors (macchiavelli , dostoyevsky, seneca, etc.)

does anyone have any idea of what school im talking about?

Saint John's College.

Are you thinking of St. John's in Annapolis, MD?

yes! thats it, thanks guys

St. John's has a second campus in the Southwest, but I can't remember exactly where. I believe that the Annapolis one was the first.

You might also want to check out Shimer in Chicago. D received something from them recently. It seemed similar to St. John's in that it focuses on the "Great Books."

St. John's western campus is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

there's 3 St. John's..

Two Catholic colleges with similar programs: Thomas Aquinas College and Thomas More College - Home Page Welcome Message

you may also be thinking about Sarah Lawrence College. that sounds pretty similar to them. :)

There are 2 St. John's College campuses
and there's another few universities named St. John's U and so on.
But the "great books" one is in Annapolis and Santa Fe.
