Hi there!

I'm applying to go to Exeter as an upper for next year.

But after looking on these forums for a while, it seems people don't have very many good things to say about. I'm a photographer, into the arts, english and history etc., not a math/science gal (although I get the high 80's, I just don't 'enjoy' it per se). Which, may be a problem, because that is what I hear they're more focused on. Now, I would regularly say "Okay, that's cool, I find a different school that's more art/humanites oriented" BUT, I really like the Harkness concept, and although I read Andover does it in some classes, they don't do it everywhere - which may not be all bad, but nonetheless.

My friend goes there, and he loves it - and no, he isn't a grade obsessed nerd, he's a chill, laidback artsy and athletic guy. Now, I suppose this is a bit biased, because he goes to Exeter, but I brought up the prospect of applying to Andover and he very abruptly said: "Well, if you want to be a stuck-up loser, than fine I'll respect your decision." So I replied with "No way Jose!! I ain't no stuck up loser!!" (so as to keep the peace and not touch on the oh-so-touchy Andover/Exeter rivalry), but it threw me off and I just thought "Is it really that bad? Are they really that stuck-up, and snobby/stand-off-ish?"

Long story short; should I be spending my time and money to apply to Exeter? Or would I not thrive there, and should I pursue a potential Andover application? Andover is very close to Exeter, so when/if I go for my interview at Exeter in late Nov., I could easily check Andover out.

P.S., campus wise, how do the two compare? Size? Cleanliness (I'm thinking dorms/bathroom)? Location? Atmosphere? And anything else I can't think of that you can... I really liked Exeter's, and the people and teachers were very friendly/nice. The buildings are lovely, and the forestry and river are beautiful.
