Do you like going to Pitt

I can't decide between Pitt and Rutgers. I like Rutgers since it is close to my house but I like the campus of Pitt better and the city that it's located in is also better than New Brunswick. I also feel like I would have a better time at Pitt, but I don't know if I could leave NJ. I think I would have a really hard time not being able to come home whenever I wanted to (this sounds really immature aaaaaaah). I also have a dog and I don't want to have him die while I'm away at school. He gets so bored on days where no one is home and I can't imagine him just walking around my house when I'm gone (I am the youngest in my family and last to leave). My parents work and they honestly don't even like my dog so they wouldn't really entertain him as much as I would like. My dog literally walks around and whimpers from bordom sometimes......like ***ffffff I am so torn now. This decision isn't just based on my dog or anything, but I really am thinking a lot about that.

I also love being close to NYC since I model and it would be so much easier to do that while at Rutgers.

All in all, I feel like i'd have more fun at Pitt, at the expense of my dog's unhappiness and far proximity from my family and where I am already established in life. Prices for both of these colleges are the same for me BTW. Please help me decide....do you like going to Pitt? Pros and cons. thanks

Having a little experience at both, I honestly think Rutgers’ multi campus setup with the shuttle buses is a disaster.

It is also good to get away from home, IMO. You don’t want to go somewhere were you’ll end up at home every weekend. IMO, a big part of college is the experience of being off on your own. But it isn’t like Pitt is on the West Coast.

The dog issue has been addressed before on here. That is a personal issue though. So is your modeling career. But keep in mind that you will can be at home four months a year, May through August, not counting fall, winter, and spring breaks. After your first year, you could also try to move off campus sooner than later so your dog could be with you.

What your intended major would be may also factor in to your decision.

My first question would be what is your major? I always recommend selecting a school that is strongest in your major. As far as the atmosphere at Pitt, I liked it but it is not for everyone. It is in an urban setting and is not your traditional campus. That said, it gives you the opportunity to do a lot of things that you can’t do at a lot of schools. There are tons of events in the city that you can go to. There are more bars, restaurants, museums, and other cultural venues. You also have the opportunity to intern at one of the many big companies located in Pittsburgh during the school year or during the summer and stay at your same apartment. It is definitely different but if you like to an urban setting, it’s a good place to be. I can’t really comment on Rutgers much as I’ve never been there.

As far as the dog issue. You could leave the dog with your parents for your first year or two and then move into an apartment that allows pets for your next 2/3 years.
