Hi! I’m new so sorry if this is in the wrong place/wrong format.
I’m a rising junior and I’m interested in biomedical engineering, specifically neuroengineering. I have been looking around and I see that a lot of colleges offer a BME major, yet there is a lot of discussion as to whether or not you need that major to enter the biomed field. Some say it’s more breadth than depth so you are better off majoring in EE/ME/ChemE and getting a biomed internship or getting an MS in biomed, and others say you should go for the BME to be a BME. Is it better to major in BME if you want to go into research/academia? Would I have an advantage with a BME degree over someone else with another engineering degree looking for the same job position? What do rankings in terms of “Best BME Schools” represent, and is it important to consider these rankings?
Thank you!
