Well it doesn't cost a thing to bring a car and I hear Wesleyan has plenty of parking....it can't hurt. I guess just don't make it known unless you want to be ____'s chaffeur all the time.

you definitely don't need a car. I mean, it's a nice extra to have, in case you want to go grocery shopping or take a spontaneous drive to the state park / the Athenian diner late at night / the beach with your friends. However, this might only happen a couple of times a year, and pretty much everything you need is on campus.

it is pretty cheap (50 dollars for a permit for the year?), but parking for freshmen is (I think) limited to Vine Street parking lot - which is fine if you're living in WestCo, Fauver, or Foss Hill, but rather far from the Butterfields (and 200 Church, though not as far). So walking to Vine Street to get to your car can make it only worth it for longer drives mostly :)

In summary: Definitely don't need it, most kids don't have cars, but it can be a nice perk, and your friends will love you.

You can live without one, but if you do own a car and it's easy for you to bring definitely go for it. It really helps in a lot of situations. Although there's no way to avoid being "the guy with a car" sometimes.
