Do you need a different teacher recommendation for each college?

I'm planning to.apply to 4 ivy league schools. Should I get different teacher recommendation letters for each one of them or can I just have same ones for all of them?

Maybe guys that applied and got admitted in previous years can answer? Which way did you go?

Thank you

You can get multiple teacher recs and decide which two to send with each application or just choose two for all applications; it’s your choice.

If you’re applying through the Common App, you can load in as many as four academic teachers. You can then designate which teachers’ rec. is sent to which school. Example: If you request rec’s from four teachers (which I think is overkill, but that’s just me), Teachers A, B C & D will all respond to your Common App request and submit their rec’s. When you apply to school X and want teachers A & C to recommend, you designate them within the application of that school. Each school will prompt you separately.

Remember that while most schools require two rec’s, some only need one. Be sure to check with each schools’ policy about additional rec’s. Many of the highly selective schools have restrictions.

Additionally, the ‘rule of thumb’ here is that you’ll want your two rec’s to speak to the different side of your academic abilities, i.e. one English/History and one Math/Science.

Good luck

You use the same recommendations for all applications

Most students get two recommendations and use the same recommendations at all schools. I can’t think of too many reasons why you would do anything else. The teachers know you are applying to a lot of schools and write the recommendations without a specific college mentioned in the text.
