Do you need SAT IIs if you take ACT

Do you need SAT IIs if you take the ACT?

Sorry that this is a dup post for the other SAT/ACT thread.

Many of the colleges/universities say that they require SAT I and IIs OR ACT with writing. ACT has a short science section, is this sufficiently replaces the 2 to 3 SAT II requirements? Anyone out there applied/accepted into UNC, Tuft, Dartmouth, etc. Tier I colleges based on ACT without the SAT II test scores? Colleges may also uses the SAT IIs for placement. If I decided to take the ACT instead of the SAT I, will including the SAT IIs increase or harm my acceptance chance?

Thanks!

I'm not sure about applying with only an ACT and no subject tests, but as for your last question (whether including SAT II's will increase or harm your chance of acceptance) they won't: As long as you do well on them. A good SAT II will only work in your favor.

Keep in mind, however, that if you do poorly on the SAT I and do well on your SAT II's , you can't just send the II's. They mail all together, whether you like it or not, unfortunately.

Go here to see list of colleges that require SAT IIs: http://www.compassprep.com/admissions_req_subjects.aspx

In the required list, you will see an * next to the number of SAT IIs required for a number of the colleges that require SAT IIs. Those with an * are colleges that accept the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs. Those without an * require IIs even if you submit ACT.

As you will see, Tufts accepts the ACT in lieu of SAT and SAT IIs, for Dartmouth IIs are still required, and UNC does not require, recommend, or consider IIs for admission.

Thanks all.
