do you need to be asked for an interview?

i was just wondering...do you need to be asked back by a school for an interview? because i know you do for a med school but i wasn't sure for the BA/MD programs...and people have been saying stuff like they didn't get asked for an interview or didn't get information and stuff.

also, is albany medical college good?

I actually think so mentos07. the process is that the shool will first notify you that you qualify for the school. THen they would schedule you for the interviews.

Actually, its the opposite. In may programs, the undergraduate campus does not know whether or not you made it into the undergrad until, per se, March. However, due to the strength of the applicants (who apply for these programs), you usually don't have to worry about getting into the undergraduate college. The interviews are almost always run by the medical campus (ie; Northwestern Weinberg, AMC, etc) and rarely by the undergraduate campus (Brooklyn College). When people state they didn't get interviews (I have been rejected bby quite a few myself), they are referring to the fact that the medical program did not call them back for an interview. For example, REMS (University of Rochester's Program) is extremely difficult to get into (~10 kids ACCEPTED not marticulated a year; last year ~8 kids were accepted). However, the undergraduate campus (U of R) is not. Chances are, if you are applying for REMS then you are well above the caliber of those regular undergraduate applicants: All you need to worry about is getting to the second stage of interviews. Those, like me, who aren't notified for an interview still easily got in the regular campus.

It is important to understand that the medical program and the undergraduate admissions are very different. Moreover, it is very rare when someone gets into HPME (Northwestern's), however, gets rejected from the NU undergrad.

Lastly, in my honest opinion, I think any medical school is good. Due to the competitiveness of today's society, with nearly 50% of all pre-med medical school applicants not getting into ANY of their medical schools; any medical school is good. Moreover, Though AMC does not have the prestiege as Baylor, Case, or Weinberg (13, 20, 20; in medical school ranking respectively), it still is a great medical school and one of the most reputable in New York State (Thus, having high Match precentages in the state). Don't be caught up so much of which medical school is better than which and which program superceedes others. Think of what you want to become, what the match percentage is, MCATs/GPA, and most importantly, what YOU want.

Hope this helped. :)

yeah thanks guys that helped a lot

wow thanks alot sphybrid, that was quite informative.

No problem. Drop a Pm if you need anything; can't say I'll be able to help at all instances, but still :]

Just a correction though, Northwestern's med school is called Feinberg, not Weinberg. It's an important distinction because Weinberg is actually one of the undergrad colleges (WCAS - Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences).

Hahaa thanks. That means my hpme interviewer was probably like "What the hell is this kid talking about...?"
