Hi! I’m an international student from south korea, and I came to US in the third quater of my freshman year. Now I’m trying to apply to colleges, but I’m concerned if I have to mail my transcript from my previous school in Korea to colleges. All the cources and credits are transfered to my current school, and my GC said that I shouldn’t have to send it but she doesn’t have enough experiences with international students so I want to make sure. Moreover, the grading system in my previous school is different either. So I really prefer not to send them if it’s okay.
You should ask the colleges to be sure. Some may require it. They are used to varying grading schemes and students transferring between high schools.
My daughter moved schools after her sophomore year. The first high school was the US News #1 STEM public magnet school with a 0-100 grading system. We moved internationally for work, so the second was a German International School with an IB program that has a 0-7 grading system. We never knew what her 4.0 scale GPA was. Colleges admitted her anyway and gave her merit scholarships. The only glitch we had was our State Public U that had an automated system for scholarships based on self-reported data. An email to admissions cleared that up and she was also awarded merit.
So don’t worry about different grading schemes…just send both and I am sure the colleges will pay more attention to the US HS.
But I agree with @intparent…ask the college. Since you were mostly in HS in the US, they may not care.

Thank you so much! I just sent email to the college I’m applying for ED first.
