Can I work my way up to being a database administrator or Network Administrator? Do employers offer tuition reimbursement for a bachelors if I decide to get an AA in IT?

I live with a database warehouse developer who has worked with databases for years. Working in IT, I’d say 80% did computer engineering or computer science, 15% did no degree at all and just learned all of it on pure willpower so they were very good, and 5% people like me who just sort of ended up there after graduation and started programming.

No degree required for an IT Help Desk Technician. As an IT Administrator, a CS or CE degree is definitely beneficial to see the big picture, but the depth and breadth of work experience may trump a degree.
