Do you say "y'all?"

Is anybody from the south going to Carnegie?
I can't be the only one....
(I'm from FL by the way.)

I say y'all! Except, I'm from NJ and not going to Carnegie.

I know at least one person who says y'all. I sometimes say it sarcastically. There aren't a lot of southerners (or, at least, people who you'd know are southerners without them telling you) here.

I used to say it but I'm from the great state of Virginia (north) and they say it there. I pick up weird stuff now from californians like "hella" and "mad".

If you use "y'all" do you also use "all y'all"???

No, that is redundant. Y'all is both plural and singular.

Nonsense. "Ya'll" is singular. "All Ya'll" is plural.

And I certainly know one student who knows that. ;)

So nice to see the real knowers of facts come forward. You are correct.

the pittsburgh version of "y'all" is "yinz", as in "Are yinz Stillers fans?"

Yinz?
Ew.
I will continue to say "y'all."

Oh- and no, I don't say "all yall."
that just sounds dumb.... :)

There is no "real" way to say 'yall"

Saying "all yall" just sounds idiotic from where I'm from. Maybe other counties say things differently but an "all yall" is redundant. Depends on the localities.

"yinz"

What?!? Eww!

Lol yeah, getting used to a new place's dialect is awkward. When I moved to WI from living in CA and AZ for a while it was wierd. People say things like "supper" instead of "dinner" and "sucker" instead of "lolipop." I got used to sucker, but I still hate the word supper.

For the record, Florida is hardly in the South. Everyone knows it was originally a part of, like, New York and just broke off and came down to chill with Cuba.

Haha... that's sort of true for south Florida. But I live in north Florida... which as far as I'm concerned is just like Southern Georgia.

And southern Georgia is VERY country (or should I spell it kuntry?)

Jacksonville? I love it there. Largest city in the United States (ok, enough random facts...).

I thought the largest city in the U.S by far would by NYC (8 mil) :), then LA (almost 4 mil).

I don't live in jacksonville so I have no idea.

jacksonville's largest us city in land area, not population.

Right 2331. Little known fact.....i guess
