Do you select a minor as a transfer student?

As a 2 year CC student transferring to a UC, do you still get to take a minor or is it major only?

You can double-major, major and minor, etc.

After you’re admitted, I believe you just have to visit the undergraduate advisor of the department you would like to add as an additional major/minor to find out the steps needed to declare it.

For a minor is it the same as a double major where u need to complete all the pre-reqs for it? Like I want to minor in cognitive science, will it be the end of the world if I’m missing one pre-req for the cognitive science major. I can’t find any info on the minor as far as pre-req completion goes.

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread.

^^^ good question, i wanna know too!

Minors have less prereqs than a major.

I don’t think you have to do this. I believe you just have to complete all your prerequisites for your intended major. Then as @Koreo stated once your at your UC, you meet with your counselor and discuss on how to go about in double majoring or minoring in another field.

This is how I believe it works. I have tried looking but can’t seem to find any information pertaining to double majoring or minoring as a transfer. I’ll be emailing a few UCs to see how the process works to receive a definite answer.

I emailed the Berkeley transfer advisor that usually answers my questions, and this is what she had to say in regards to adding a minor at Cal:

At UCLA you’re let into the minor the day you have the lower division requirements fulfilled for the minor. The minor lower division requirements generally tend to be less than the major. So if on the first day of school, you have the lower division requirements fulfilled for the minor or second major, you simply go to the counselor for the department you want to add a minor/major to, and fill out the paper work.
