The question is self explanatory; if I have transcripts from multiple colleges do I need to make sure that they arrive by the deadline or be sent by the deadline?
When I was recruiting for a small school the dean said an applicant should get the application in because the deadline had already passed. Large schools may be less flexible. There’s no way we can know what each school’s rule is.
Majority of colleges will accept transcripts and other supporting materials (such as test scores) that arrive after the application deadline; a number even provide a second date after the application deadline by when supporting materials must be submitted . However, there are a number of colleges that require that all materials be in their hands by the application deadline. Thus, you need to review each college’s requirements carefully. Those that actually require all materials to be provided by the application deadline will tell you that in their admission materials, although finding the information may not always be simple. Moreover, make sure you determine exactly what has to be sent. For example, there are a number of colleges now that allow you to self-report all your grades and test scores in the application and not even send official transcripts until after you are admitted.
