What do you think? They do reject an huge amount of talented, amazing applicants every year based on subjectivity, and do cause a certain amount of misery. There are probably thousands of students angry at them.

There isn’t enough room for every applicant, whadayagonnado?

They definitely have bad karma.
Hey, they picked that job. Some jobs do cause misery, for example, Executioners (maybe this is extreme) but executioners must have bad karma, because they are participating. Adcoms are actively creating unhappiness.

They’re doing their job. If you’re going to get mad at someone for doing their job, then you’re probably spoiled and have never worked at a customer service job in your life. And no they don’t have bad karma, since karma doesn’t exist.

“then you’re probably spoiled and have never worked at a customer service job in your life”

Ouch. It was just a speculative question. I’m not mad at admissions officers. I haven’t even gone through the admissions process yet.

It must be a very unrewarding job though, having to decide between thousands of applicants that are very similar.

I would say it’s a very tough job on them. I’m sure admissions officers would love to accept every qualified applicant out there, but just can’t due to space. I’m sure that alone makes them feel bad some days, especially right around now.

There’s no such thing as karma, so no they don’t.

I highly doubt that its unrewarding. They get to give someone their dream of going to a college that they’ve always wanted to go to. If that’s not rewarding then I don’t know what is.
