Do you take notes?

I don't take notes for my math class, since everything is in the book. I still go to lecture though and listen, but I don't take notes lol.

I only really do for science courses though. What about you? Do you find notes helpful? I tend to never look at my notes (for math atleast) again since everything is already in the book though.

Off topic: Do you skim readings if assigned 100 pages every night? Especially if the reading is on something incredibly boring? Kinda having trouble with this lol.

I take notes for all my classes but I never look at my math and physics notes again. But I still take notes because I think there is something about writing things down that keeps me more focused during the lecture.
For other classes, I try to take good notes because I need them to study.

And I never do my readings yay

Take notes but don’t read.

i try to take notes but often find myself losing interest in lectures. In really technical classes, recordings work well though.

Wow! I thought I was the only one! It’s so hard for me to pay attention in lecture and I thought I was had like ADHD or something. But I definitely love the webcasts. It makes sense to me when I watch them at home.

I take notes for all of my classes. But i rarely look over them unless I know that info is exactly on the test.

I try to take notes in all my classes, or at least, actively pretend like I am. There’s something about pretending to take notes that helps my brain feel like I’m paying attention. When I’m not taking notes, it makes me feel like a bad student. But of course, I never re-read them, except for technical classes.

And no, I also don’t do the 100 pg readings assigned before lecture.

THANK GOD I’m a transfer student and thought the level of note taking was insane in my first few days this semester. Last week I realized that the notes on the powerpoint are exactly what is in the lecture, so I stopped paying attention to lecture and just copy powerpoint. Also, even the professor told a student that lecture is only for stimulation of thought, but that we are to form our own opinions.

That said, if I had to take technical classes I would take notes.

no i do not

Yes. (All of my classes are chemistry, so I kind of have to, you know? lol)

I try to take notes, but I get distracted really easily.

Last semester though I took notes because the professors often posted their slides ahead of time. So I would print the slides and take notes on what they said because otherwise, their slides would not make any sense. I would do that this semester, but my professors either post their slides AFTERWARD or not at all.

haha-i actually tried to take notes in ph 150a but the profs go through like 15 slides in 5 mins and give us iclicker q’s. but its not so bad since they post slides.

sometimes though, you gotta take notes on/with the slides. psych 117 with knight is like that-his slides are literally all brain scans with no words, so if you dont take furious notes and youre trying to study for midterms off of just his slides, youd be pretty fuccked.

in general though, if i find the professor ties pretty well with their slides, i just sit and listen to the lec and only write down “key stuff” not on the slides.

^^ I wanted to take neuropsychology so bad, but I didn’t do so hot in 110 so…thats that.

I take notes just to “pay attention” in class. Although I do think that I have adh…

i take notes but rarely go back and look over them. like a lot of ppl said, it’s more for me to pay attention in class. i lose interest if the lecture is dull.

Yeah, i just take notes for chem lol.

Btw, another offtopic question: how are you supposed to go to study groups, go to office hours, do club activities, etc., when everything is at the same freaking time? lol.

^^ THIS x 100000000

I really hated having to choose between DeCals/clubs this semester.

I don’t read outta the book, so I take notes in all my classes: bio, espm, and econ.

My studying consists of taking notes, and then typing up my notes into a study guide. I usually don’t like reading the text until right before midterms, so taking notes is very helpful.

I either don’t take notes or take notes and don’t read them
