Do you think Academics (GPA and Standardized Tests) play a role in BFA MT Admissions?

Or is admission based on talent alone?

Short answer - It depends on the school. There are BFA programs (notably NYU, Michigan, Penn State, and Syracuse) Which weight academics. (NYU for example is 50/50). And there are schools where academics do not play a real factor (even at schools that ordinarily want high stats for other majors, like CMU). Personally, it seems that schools that call themselves “conservatories” are less likely to to influenced by academics, but that’s just me.

@toowonderful, thank you for your response! I understand what you’re saying!
