i truly love art and think i would like this class. but will colleges think it is "fluff" and not a hard AP? or should i just go for it? will they be impressed it is an AP at least? (not an art school)

It’ll never hurt your application. The worst that they’ll do is not care about it.

If they knew about it they’d know it’s very hard… completely different from other AP’s. If you want to do it, try it.

Be aware that AP studio art is not an “easy” class–it involves submission of an extensive multi-work portfolio and hours and hours of work. In additon, grading is tough (on one CC post they said only 25% get a 4 or 5). If you are doing it because you have trained in and love art, go for it. But don’t do it because it is an easy AP–becasue it’s not! (and I don’t think colleges will think it’s fluff…)

As long as you’ve taken plenty of other AP classes it should definitely help you. Colleges want well rounded students with many different interests.
