Why do people who just dont’ give a damn go to community college? What are they getting out of it if they hate it, don’t care and don’t study?

Honestly, it’s the same lol. I actually wished I went to a community college…

Also, it isn’t easier, take my word for it…

I went to my local community college (Suffolk County Community College - Ammerman) last semester, as I am a spring-admit to my college. The professors were excellent, though one of mine tended to shove a bit to much Christianity-is-awesome in his lectures. Besides that, they all seemed to know their material extremely well and genuinely wanted the class to succeed (which often led to them calling on people to answer questions, and having to go through a few people to get an answer D: ).

As for the students, the majority of them seemed as if they were there because they -had- to be, and they certainly didn’t seem to be enjoying themselves. One of my professors had a slight Greek accent that wasn’t hard to understand at all, but before class I recall numerous people complaining about how they couldn’t understand him and whatnot, but it was obvious that they didn’t try at all and would rather text. In my other classes, I was usually the main participant, as the majority of students seemed as if they had much better things to do than participate in class discussions. My classes were rather small (~30 students), so discussion was somewhat crucial, but a lot of the time it was the professor and I having a nice chat. The reading assigned was far from overwhelming, yet my classmates still found reasons to complain about how boring said reading was, or how they couldn’t read past a page (this was a Sexism course, so the reading was actually quite interesting). Sorry if this seems like a rant, but I was disappointed in the obvious lack of interest most of my classmates displayed.

Btw, I’m jealous of all of you with cheap local CCs! My classes were ~$150 a credit. Cost me roughly over $1500.

I wonder that about some university students as well…

But it’s usually because they feel like they have to go to college- or their parents are forcing them too.

Yeah, there is definitely a large majority of people who really don’t care or are weird, haha. But, you can almost always find a group of people who are in the same boat as you and are really intelligent. It’s ridiculous tho with how many people have their laptops in class and are constantly typing away on FB. And I definitely got the vibe not to use “large” vocabulary words around some of my fellow classmates, lol.

But my CC is insanely expensive, it’s around 180+/credit and it costs around $8,000 for a full two semesters. Only about 4 grand cheaper than my state university! My CC has been great, but I’m just really looking forward to going to my LAC next fall xD
