I attended SCAD for 2 semesters. I had a 5k balance each semester which was payed by my dad's 401k. I messed up particularly because I thought this school was well worth the money and that I was getting a spectacular education with jobs everywhere. rolls eyes but that wasn't true. But in order to release those funds from 401k, the billing cycle has to be active and I need proper documentation from the school. This was done successfully the first time, but second semester was tough. Even after I requested my paperwork to be sent, my counselor took her time sending the wrong paperwork to the 401k and the billing cycle came to a close. Now I can't pay the 5k and the school will not allow me to still attend and wait til the next cycle so that it can be fixed. Most scholarships are for currently enrolled students and I work a dead end minimum wage job that ways 200 bi weekly. I'm hoping to transfer to community college to get a refund enough to cover the 5k, but I'm not sure if any college will accept me knowing that I can't provide my old transcripts even though I CAN pay this new school. The logic is: if you can't pay this school, how can you pay ours? Well I can but in stuck between a rock and a hard place. I can't even apply for private student loans because of lack of credit.

Sounds like you’ll have to pay for CC out of your own pocket. Talk to the admissions and FA office about being a non-degree student until you can get the $5K paid off. They have most likely seen something like this before and may have other ideas.

I don’t think that’s the logic at all. It’s more like, before you spend your money on something new, you need to pay the people you already owe.

You need to clear up your debt with your old school so that they will release your transcripts before you apply to another school. If you don’t do so, colleges check your previous enrollments here:
