Do You Think I Can Get A Full Ride?

Hi, I am currently the sophomore Valedictorian in a Georgia highschool. Right now, I am just trying to plan out my future. I want to go to a college that will give me just about a full ride, or atleast 90% of the cost to attend. I don't really care much for prestige, as I just don't want to graduate with a ton of debt that will be tormenting me for 10 years. Here are my stats...

Weighted GPA- 4.375
Rank- 1/589

I also am taking around 13 AP classes by the time I graduate. I will take 8 AP's my Junior year.
I understand that SAT/ACT scores are very important for this kind of thing, but I feel very confident I can get at least a 32 ACT (just assume I will).

Thanks

Go to the Financial Aid Forum, and scroll down to find the threads on competitive and automatic full ride scholarships. Your GPA and ACT are good enough for some of them. If you don’t care about prestige, you will be fine.

It depends on what kind of college we’re talking about. If you’re a National Merit Finalist, schools will give you full ride scholarships, but those are state level schools. I was a Natl. Merit Finalist and I got 6 full rides to random state schools. If you come from low-income level (like <$60,000), you don’t really even need to worry about finances at private top schools, because they’ll meet 100% of need. But chances are, you won’t get a full ride scholarship to top private schools because they’re simply too few and far between.

I believe Dartmouth pays for everything if your income is less than 100,000.

yes 10 char

Does Dartmouth pay all costs or just all demonstrated need? Colleges use that and it’s a little misleading. For example, most top private schools provide 100% demonstrated need, but that doesn’t mean 100% of all costs. My family makes <$60,000, but our EFC (expected family contribution) is still around $8000 a year. (My university is Rice, which meets 100% demonstrated need)

See if any of these are something you can aim for with ACT or SAT scores (but many of them use unweighted high school GPA):
