Do you think I can get in with...

Alright really really wanna get in here. Not in-state, but close (Portland, Oregon). I'm a real big slacker, but have had honors math classes for 3 years, senior year of calc AP, a year of honors chem, year of honors physics, a semester of AP Physics, and I have a 3.38 GPA. Pretty low. But I have a 28 composite score on my ACTs and a 1850 on my SATs, what do you think are my chances of getting into UW? I'm hoping high, cuz I'm sure that my scores are way above average, but does that make up for the GPA. Plus I volunteer and work and do sports, well not sports inside school but some kinda stuff.

Your scores are not "way above average"...

I'd say 60 - 70% of getting in.

i say you can get in...i mean if i got in with
gpa: 3.08
sat: 1800
act: 27

i think you can

I mean pretty good, for me anyways. I'm no dork and I didn't study and whatever, just really motivated to get out of Portland. I mean my GPA isn't horrible, and that actually is a pretty good score, I mean I'm not applying to Harvard or nothing, so I don't need that 2200-2300 score. Oh yeah, I'm asian and UW does have a lot, I heard like 25%. Do they need more?

i knew you were smart, steven

wait a second my scores are pretty high above average, the stats say that my ACT beats out 93% of test takers and my SAT score beats out 90%. I'm thinking... JUST THINKING that it might be a good score.

^

I have 1970 and I'm still scared that I might not get in cause I've noticed tons of people getting in with 2200+ ...AT UW. And oh, my GPA's 3.69

"I'm thinking... JUST THINKING that it might be a good score."

Yeah, when you throw in kids going to community college, etc everyone's percentiles look good.

seroiusly all those kids getting into UW on this site with the 2200 were sure to get in, like no doubt gonna get in. seroiusly cuz i mean if you're getting a 2200 on the SATs then there's not much to worry about. a lot of people don't even bother taking the SATs, the ones who don't have a point to. But umm i'm not cocky about my stuff at all, i mean they're not great stats, i never worked hard at all throughout hs. Just SEEING if i'll get past. I don't see a lot of people here on this site with low GPAs and low SATs scores cuz these kids are the ones who are motivated and want to go to college and are checking around to see if they'll have a good shot. I don't see UW as an elite school where you'll need that stuff, but if it is, then gee that's not good news for me.

Well thanks a lot everyone for their imput, it really helped me a lot, hopefully I'll see all of you guys next year.

Would I have any chance of getting in with a 2.7 and 2030 sat and no ec

Wow you must be a smart but hella lazy student. Geez, that's showing it to the man.

i got in with 1860 on the sat.. gpa was a bit higher tho, 3.7

Wow you must be a smart but hella lazy student. Geez, that's showing it to the man.

thanks, but i was actually asking for my chances of getting in at university of washington, not an in depth psychological evaluation of myself

news, i think your chances are pretty low.

news, i think your chances are pretty low.

alright, thats cool then. This is just the last school i havn't heard from yet and i wanted to know if i would have had any chance to get in before i confermed my intent at Boulder, which I'm more than glad to go to considering i have a 2.6 and not a single extracurricular. thanks

I'm not saying nothing bad about you, That's pretty awesome, getting such a high SAT score even the expectations were probably against you. Well I hope you get in.

i'm not saying it's a deinite "no" and that you should completely rule out UW, i just think a 2.7 GPA is a little too low, especially with no EC's. i could be wrong.

No, i agree with you. i just really hadnt done much research into uw yet and wasnt sure if i would have much of a chance, i only applied cuz i have some family over there. thanks for helping me out

i got in with a 3.83/1920 and i have a lot of ec's/volunteer, etc. I think you have a good chance of getting in because they're not just looking at scores/gpa this year- its holistic which means they'll pay attention to what you've accomplished during school. That gives everyone with slightly lower gpa's and sat scores who might not have made the index cut if they were using the same system as last year a better chance to get in. good luck!
